2011 Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200 Review
Dorsoduro 1200 is cooled as his younger brother 750 Therefore, there is a large cooler messing with supermoto riding style a bit like the boots do not get as far forward as the right front wheel supermoto.
The new lattice steel frame could be the same as the 750, but is stronger and stiffer and a bit heavier. Aprilia partly offset by the lighter rear subframe, but there is no reason to believe that the improvement will not benefit from the 750 in the future. The Dorsoduro 1200 tackles corners with agility and sense of supermotard where you can place the front wheel exactly where you want.

2011 Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200
The suspension fork 43mm Sachs has a $ 160 mm with full scan. Sachs shock rear overhang of 155 mm can travel. The long journey that can break on the depth contours, and do not have enough grip, a slide is controllable. At the rear is the same story, and the suspension was prepared for almost any kind of abuse imaginable. Riding in a straight line or even the suspension of the cruise is not too difficult and absorbs bumps almost as well as a full on supermoto.

2011 Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200
Configuration with 320 mm double disc with radial Brembo brakes provide plenty of braking maneuvers, and a single 240 mm rear disc brake caliper piston Brembo takes care to be the corners well. The majority of the market, Dorsoduro 1200 is equipped with ABS as standard. I can not cope with Shiver ABS, but not in Dorsoduro. ABS works very well as a safety measure on a rainy day, but no other adverse weather conditions, I guess far away, and fortunately, you Aprilia. ABS always starts up automatically when the ignition completely off and then on.

2011 Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200
Aprilia has two aspects: the open racing on the heart, represented by the SXV / RXV and RSV4 and bona fide road bikes represented by the Dorsoduro and Shiver. The difference is that racing engines are 100% engineering Aprilia, Piaggio engines while 750/1200 (which includes course Aprilia)-engineering. This is good news if you are worried about the reliability high mileage as little service provider agreements as possible.
New 1200C 130-horsepower engine is not stressed at all, and there are good reasons to expect a car touring, with this engine in the near future. Dorsoduro 1200, and accelerates to over 125 mph as easy as anything. On motorways, there is, of course, a lot of air resistance upright riding position, but the seat is a long (and much comfier a real supermoto), and I was able to move forward and tuck in My off-road helmet almost low enough to take advantage of a small plate racing-style wind protection for the engine. Mirrors provide a pretty decent look at the back without too much vibration. There is weaving from side to side at high speed, as is typical for single-cylinder 650cc motorcycle.

2011 Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200
The point of all these aids pilot is that you can, if desired, to tame the beast entirely. The best part might be that if a less experienced driver you want to measure and monitor their own progress through the world of high performance motorcycle that can do a bike. Experienced riders like me will have to endure the discomfort can not change anything while driving. Only three levels of driving Sport, Touring and Rain can be adjusted while driving, and not fast fashion as the gas must be turned off and there is the odd three or more seconds to wait for what is much less traveling alone on the road.

2011 Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200
Conclusion
The Dorsoduro 1200 is all I wanted the 750 was not there. The 1200 engine has achieved everything you ever seek wealth in V-Twin. It is ordered, the bike is now 100% pure pleasure. The Dorsoduro 1200 is better in all areas 750 and the traction control prevents severe palpitations corners with high throttle openings large thin. Despite the large capacity it feels much smaller than the example of BMW HP2. Compared with good supermotard, which is large and heavy, but you probably already knew that if this is not a point of the complaint. Due to the fact that it is liquid cooled and reliable, well built and good safety features, I am inclined to say that the Dorsoduro 1200 could be one of the best options in the neighborhood in 2011.

2011 Harley Davidson CVO Street Glide Review
Thus, Street Glide is obviously one of the most sought after bikes on the market and reached its peak in 2011 calling the CVO version tested here.
Harley Custom Vehicle Operations (CVO) division is the standard H-DS and match them with extra chrome, custom paint, many accessories and special plants Screamin Eagle high-performance power to create the ultimate range of Harley. "CVO motorcycles," says Motor Company, "set the ultimate vision of Harley-Davidson style, functionality and performance."

At an MSRP $ 32,499, the Street Glide CVO is a business class ticket packers V-Twin, but it only takes a quick look at the CVO-SG to recognize the high quality - both in terms of quality of painting, chromium or the depth of the finishing details. Cher bits are everywhere, making it possible to justify spending expensive original.
Help distinguish the wheels are slipping CVO unless further in contrasting chrome shaker terrible. The 19 incher on the front is the larger diameter wheel has never been a hard bike tour, complemented with floating brake discs 300 mm and a Shaker style matching 18-inch wheel rear. A "hit and trimmed" front fender closely hugs the curve of the rim.
As is typical of CVO models, the Secretary General is painted in deep, rich chrome. Controls beautiful hands and feet are from the collection of Harley Rumble, blingy brightwork and transferred to the
sleeves, size and tip, push the fuel door, among many other places.

CVO SG is also unique in the fuel tank. And King started in a mobile 6.0 liters, but is modifiable color fill gas mounted on the right, where the fuel gauge corresponding LED on the left side. New low-profile console is accented with a unique "liquid metal" coin tank.
As expected the CVO division that lacks nothing in terms of standard accessories, including cruise control, ABS, bags and covers HD Smart Security System.
"This years theme is a great voice," said Randy Klopfer, team manager at the press presentation CVO CVO.

All CVOs 2011 Harley OEM also provides regularly through the installation of equipment, Screamin Eagle Twin Cam 110 cubic inch engine. This fuel-injected engine that gives an extra step motor 115 pounds ft factory class. its 4000 rpm torque. It depends significantly on the 96-cubic-inch claimed 92.6 Nm at 3500 rpm. High starting torque, and a stronger clutch to handle a big motor to provide additional requirements.

Cavaliers Courts are assisted in the management of this large mass, with a new low profile seat located just 27.4 inches off the ground, but what is the cost to an inch of 2.0 minutes drive from the rear suspension. The same seat, with snake inserts corresponding simulated PNR is quite comfortable, but the suspension may be hit hard in irregularities. 4.6 in. travel 41mm fork has an easier time sucking big impacts. If the horizon is tilting barrel, you have to mount the hydraulic preload on the rear to get Harley claimed 32-degree angle on the basis of the right, 30 degrees on the exhaust side.

We are grateful to have the engine in TC110 walk around Lake Tahoe, we took a mile high, the height would have the TC96 out of breath. Throttle response is exemplary, and engine vibration is isolated from the large bucket driver in all cruising speeds, with the help of overdrive 6-speed transmission.
The Street Glide is one of our favorite Harleys, and the CVO version try to create the elements of performance, quality of finish and the luxury of giving more attractive. As a platform for passenger cars, is almost perfect, marked only by the rear suspension and a minimum storage capacity is very limited.

Honda CTX700 N Review

Introducing the Honda CTX700 and CTX700N. As we revealed back in February, Honda’s two brand-new motorcycles are aimed to appeal to newer, shorter – and younger – riders. Honda is confident the incorporation of its automatic Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) and antilock brakes (ABS) along with a manageable 28.3-inch seat height, exceptionally nimble handling and practical performance will appeal to anyone intrigued by motorcycling – and perhaps their parents as well.
The CTX700N (base MSRP $6999) and CTX700 ($7999) feature 670cc parallel-Twin engines first introduced on the NC700 series, and they share the same frame as well. The “N” here stands, presumably, for Naked, as the non-N CTX700 adds an upper fairing for rider comfort and touring/commuting practicality. Both of those MSRPs represent standard models with manual transmissions, but for $1000 more you can get Honda’s second-generation Dual-Clutch Transmission and antilock brakes. You can’t get one without the other, but at a thousand bucks, the future is a bargain.
Introduced on the sporty VFR1200, the second-generation DCT has been fine-tuned and dialed in to achieve shifting perfection. Occasional clunky transferals and unpredictable gear changes are gone, replaced by smooth functionality and crisp actuation. In Automatic mode, both up- and downshifts occur at precisely the right points, whether set at Drive or Sport, providing worry-free clutch-less shifting. Tickle the paddle shifters with your thumb and forefinger on the left grip and the CTX changes gears seamlessly, providing extra power or engine braking when desired.
Both CTXs straddle the line between Standard and Cruiser without appearing schizophrenic; it’s a strange and different look, yet somehow it works. With angular headlights and broad shoulders, they resemble a street standard, punctuated by short, tight front fenders and long, pointed rear fenders.
But the round brushed exhaust canister is side-mounted low, a clear cruiser-esque touch, and forward foot controls and the upright rider position are also obviously cruiser-inspired.But Honda didn’t look to a throwback, classic V-Twin cruiser for that inspiration. In the spirit of creating something totally new, they wanted the CTXs to be fresh, innovative motorcycles, and thanks to that modern mindset the overall visual effect is rather akin to a slim-cut, three-piece suit: classic yet contemporary, stylish but not overly bold.
Suspension is provided by a 41mm fork offering 4.2 inches of travel and the rear suspension provides 4.3 inches of travel. The braking system is comprised of a two-piston caliper gripping a 320mm single disc up front and a single-piston job biting a 240mm disc in the rear. On the road, both CTXs displayed great all-around suspension on various terrain, and the brakes worked flawlessly with the DCT to provide a real two-wheel rush in the twisties.
How’s the power? We dyno tested the NC700X in our recent Middleweight Multi-tool Shootout and measured a peak power output of 47.7 hp at 6400 rpm, and 42.6 ft-lb. of torque at 4700 rpm. Honda says we should expect similar, if slightly lower, numbers from the CTX models. Regardless of what the charts say, I’m here to testify that both bikes have plenty of grunt for whatever an entry-level rider will ask of them.

2011 BMW F800R Review
BMW Motorrad new ethos is to be more daring and state of the art, like the side of his BMW car and illustrated by S1000RR Superbike. Not only the RR to become the best selling BMW in the United States, the average age of owners just 34 years."A great success," is how Mr. Pieter de Waal, BMW Motorrad USA, VP, says S1000RR, especially when the depressed market. "When you sell something that nobody needs," says de Waal, "it is better to give them a good reason to buy."Thus, in his efforts to obtain "futuristic younger, more dynamic drivers city F800R is offered by American pilots for the first time, replacing the mechanically similar to BMW F800S 2011 collection. 800ST remains unchanged.

2011 BMW F800R
Like a naked sport bike, is a decathlete F800R gender, able to barge his way through commuter traffic on Monday, then rip the canyons on the weekends. Comfortable upright ergonomics offers accommodating, with a piece handlebar just to go ahead - perfect.

2011 BMW F800R
A little more important information about the options: F800R is the last to abandon the German model of the BMW brand traditional three-button switch available to the combined indicators is the same right as all other bikes with the exception of Harley. All switches 800R feels accurate and smooth, and adjustable levers ensure a variable to reach.
BMW roadster feeling fine mid-range between the knees, the assistance of the fuel tank is positioned under the seat. It up to 4.1 liters of the ship, the R is said to weigh only 440 pounds.
FR fire easily and quickly installed in a slow motion. Its 798cc parallel twin, is well known for F800 owners with the firing order of 360 degrees even with a combustion event occurs with each rotation of the crank, the pistons move up and down together. This is the firing sequence same as used on BMW Boxer Twins, giving them a sound like the exhaust.

2011 BMW F800R
Although the design of the DOHC cylinder head is similar to the K1300 engine, using finger followers for activation cam is the parallel-Twin screamer. It has a linear power accumulation that comes on strong at 6000 rpm when the torque peaks, rushing to a climax the wheel 80 horsepower at the rear, as measured by 800ST since we last tested. BMW tells us to expect an almost identical number.
New F800R is the use of a fuel system that offers variable pressure precisely the amount of fuel and timing based on the desired power. This makes more efficient than a constant flow system the only fuel that varies depending on the duration without any change in the calendar, and it eliminates the need for a fuel line return. This requires a sophisticated ECU with four times the processing power, and BMW says it offers better power transfer, better economy and lower emissions. The F800 engine has already proven to be fuel efficient, on average, an excellent 48 mpg with our 800ST, although it requires premium fuel. BMW claims an average of 55 mpg for the 800R, which we were unable to check with our time limited places.
Perhaps the most lovable personality chassis tuning 800R, which feels very neutral in all situations swing. Bars wide enough allow a quick check but sure to rake 25.0 degrees and 91mm of trail, while a thin 59.8-inch wheelbase and a steering damper into the crown provides reassuring stability. It is an accomplice willing and able, from a residential to a mountain road sweeping.

2011 BMW F800R
A compromise largest naked bike is discovered during highway riding - one standing and the lack of protection against the wind brings its own victims. F800R yet good enough. A thin waist and accessories, body-color screen ($ 250) handles most of the airflow is directed against a rider, relatively speaking.
How F800GS and 800ST, twin line advantage to rotate the arm behind the balancing of the crankshaft to combat vibration, a single agreement between the motorcycle engines. Auction replacement moves the pistons up and down in the opposite direction to the system that is quieter than chains or gears that turn the traditional balancing. However, some low amplitude generous feeling you experience at highway speeds. The engine turns about 5100 rpm 80 mph, which is just around the vibration seeps its way into the pilot. That said, the atmosphere is high frequency, so Im not entirely embarrassing. Although there is no room for the legs, a saddle hours causing pain in the ass to zero.
Smoothed over by a highway around a generous 4.9-inch travel on both ends. No changes for 43mm forks, but the rear suspension has spring preload and rebound damping regulations, as well as manually adjustable dial. This is a compromise between effective control and comfort, which is suitable personalities R.

2011 BMW F800R
Instrumentation is a variant of the meters on the F800S others here with an analog speedometer sits atop an analog speedometer, flanked by a panel of info LCD, which can be changed by different screens. For example, each following our test bike tire pressure optional ($ 250) and heated grips ($ 250) have their own readings. A speedometer-position is handy and easy to read - we wish the same could be said about the small numbers on the speedometer.
The F800R is an attractive platform and versatile, and one of its advantages over its competitors is a wide range of options and accessories to create your taste. A good place to start is the premium package that bundles ABS brakes, heated grips and trip computer for $ 1445.
Other options include a handy 12-volt accessory outlet ($ 50), alarm ($ 395), expandable side bags and the center stand. Added Cosmetics codon, radiator with cover plate and the vacuum pump. Akropovic titanium exhaust is the only performance of the component. We have repeatedly extolled the virtues of a naked sport bike, believing that offer the best compromise of versatility, performance and value. Our time aboard the F800R only reinforced these perceptions. This do-almost-all-premium producer of motorcycle retail price of less than $ 10,000. The addition of desirable options boost the price (as tested, our cost of about $ 12K), but were happy so many are only available to fit the rider.

2012 Ducati Monster 1100 EVO Desmodue Evoluzione Review
When I first Ducati Monster is red as in the picture below, indirectly it can fall in love with the design of the Ducati Monster 2012 1100 Evoluzione Desmodue EVO, it seems to be a simplified, without further delay, but in terms of which the body can make the bike look more fresh and unique from others. Nude lattice frame and the short position resonates with me as the bike is great because so many people do not think so. Nineteen years later, Ducati continues to produce models that now iconic, so Im not the only one who thought it was great. The latest version of the EVO Monster is a 1100, and was finally able to throw a leg over my favorite Ducati ever made.

2012 Ducati Monster 1100 EVO Desmodue Evoluzione
For the treatment of the Ducati Monster 1100 2012 EVO Desmodue Evoluzione also consists of several components of the IEO to the improvement in performance for a slightly higher level. The Monster EVO Desmodue debut two valves per cylinder with three-digit output by the statement that the cylinder head with revised intake system, the valves to lift more (4% to 5% for the intake and exhaust ) and press 11.3 compression ratio of 10.7 to 1. Once we got to 1100 in our hands, our Dynojet 200i rolling MotoUSA where it is pumped 86,69 65.93 pounds-feet of torque horses. Not enough to claim the Ducati 100, but still impressive demonstration of a twin air-cooled two-valve.

2012 Ducati Monster 1100 EVO Desmodue Evoluzione
Mainly through the streets of Irvine average output power is strong enough, more precisely when we are stepping literbike at any time, or even a supercar. Shock Monster 1100 Evo is low and fast to get the time before the signing of a section north of 8000 rpm. More than a few.

2010 Harley Davidson Sportster 883L Review and Comparison
Harley-Davidson Sportster has turned out to be more than 50 years now! That longevity unequaled in the car market. We chose the Sportster 883 for our shootout because: A) is the only model of HD that could qualify for a sub-1000cc displacement cutoff of us, and, B), it sports an unbeatable price. In fact, we tested 883 Low is the most affordable travel on the line Harley at $ 6,999 (black) and $ 7,289 for other colors, like blue bike we tested.More parts and stripped down than shoot competition, the visual difference from just a flashy Sportster. Much more slender, with narrow tank and frame, reducing his own Sporty style with aspects of the most basic of riding. No flash, no bells and whistles, just an engine and two wheels with a seat, tank and handlebars. its classic looks, featuring the V-Twin powerplant and staggered exhaust, creating a pure blasphemy to see or photograph from the other side from the right.
And while it looks different, Harley felt even more obvious once perched behind the controls. Better classified as standard than a crusier, the upright position contrasts Sportsters ride-forward ergos feet from the shooting competition. The purpose built for small-statured, Low Sportster features close reach to the bars and pegs. 26.3-inch high seat, combined with a very slim width, making the effort to touch the ground. While quite beneficial for the intended audience, which spelled trouble for the small ergos our testing crew. All six feet or higher, every test rider found the position too narrow for their tastes. In particular, all do not like the placement near the handlebar. Having ridden the previous Sportsters (including the 2005 Sportster Project Bike), we find an alternative placement of bar stock or aftermarket unit is placed higher, makes a world of difference.
"When I first sat on this bike, I felt very uncomfortable," Joey admitted Agustin, our guest videographer. "Saya61 and for me just felt like I was sitting on a bar stool. I felt awkward upright and think I would lose my balance was just promoted to the gas station."
The ergos take some getting used to, but the Sportster rider with a win over a gallant Twin. 883 fire and air-conditioning plant shakes, vibrates and rolls out of character. Undersquare only in the test configuration, the cylinder 76.2mm-wide walking up and down stroke 96.8mm, with a 8.9:1 compression ratio.Rear-wheel dyno numbers peaked at 46.6 hp and 45.3 lb-ft of torque, mid-pack in our group test. However, Sporty pack a punch in the street, with the feel and acceleration of throttle peppiest endearing fun for our testers.
"Harley is the best machine - have a range of tensile strength," said MCUSA Road Test Editor Adam Waheed. "Top-end is lackluster and not nearly as strong as the Yamaha, but overall I liked the best."
Agustin also found surprising power: "I continue to underestimate the engine during take-off at first. I felt my body to pay back some times forget that the strength of that."
Dyno charts and descriptions of full-engines motorists unfair, as the Sportster the best sound as well. Motor HD has the most personality, so far. This is one of arbitrary judgments that must drive the Harley critics and competitors nuts to hear, but less perfect Sportster V-Twin, in which more is to give rebuttal what some riders want.
The weakness of the machine rawer feel is vibration. While Harley use rubber mount, engine vibration is still quite vague to obscure the mirror at times and motorists get battered in the Sportster saddle more than delicate rival ships.
Vibration is not entirely to blame though, with the most rigid chassis Sportster parking. Minimum of 3.62 inches of suspension travel front / rear 1.63 inches, allowing imperfections many jerks on the road through the bar and chairs. While the chair itself, it is the most serious of the group, the description of a bar stool before the fair.
"It was quite rough as hell on the highway evenly," confirms Joey.
Non-adjustable 39mm fork and preload adjustable rear shock did not inhibit the rides excited, although not low ground clearance. erode even at moderate lean pegs - real pity as the Sportster, as the name suggests, encourages more aggressive pace with the rising upright position and lean frame. Steering geometry differences further illustrate the point, sweeping the two degrees is more severe, traces of 1.1 inches and 4.5 inches shorter wheelbase is more compact than the nearest competitor.
A thin and lightweight form of 572-lb curb weight (the lighter Honda only) low-speed maneuvering is not the easiest to run, with a short reach to the ground is very helpful - a real plus for entry-level Sportster 883 rider to whom to serve.Transmission 5-speed dental give change in the most direct sense. Where the metric is a quick snick, snick, snick scrolling through the tranny, the HD is more of an accidental click, click, click. Its not better or worse than the Japanese model of slick-shifting per se, only different (there is that word again ...).
Brakes - caliper 292mm disc single and two-piston front discs and 260mm single-piston caliper rear - the average of estimates evaluated by our testers. Although not the most impressive dual-disc package slow things down with reasonable confidence and feel positive lever.
Despite displays at least information (analog speedometer, trip meter and the idiot light) on the instrument cluster Sportster redeem himself by being the only console looks to speed without looking down through their placement above the steering head. Fit and finish the second level after the Star, with clean instrumentation and switchgear. Self-canceling turn signals reach a particular compliment, features a bicycle valued at $ 7,000. Were not big fans of the weak light, but, or the low range of 145 miles (based on the efficiency of our observed 44 mpg) offered by its tiny 3.3 gallon gas tank.

The low MSRP May be the biggest highlights of the Sportster. A Vivid Black base model retails for $ 6,999, with the solid colors, like our test unit, an extra $ 290. The 883 Iron version, with its less dramatic ergos and a blacked-out styling, costs an extra grand at $ 7,999 (in hindsight, the Iron-May have been a better match shootout, but the 883L We Requested from HD). Added onto the value factor is a 24-month warranty, a full year longer any of the shootout Rivals. It challenges the common assertion That Harleys are always more expensive than the competition.
All Told We enjoyed getting to know the old Sportster again. May it not be the ideal mount for larger riders, but it is an affordable, and fun, entry to the HD brand. At the very least, its Different ... It is, after all, a Harley.
All Told We enjoyed getting to know the old Sportster again. May it not be the ideal mount for larger riders, but it is an affordable, and fun, entry to the HD brand. At the very least, its Different ... It is, after all, a Harley.
Review Kawasaki Ninja ZX 12R

Kawasaki Ninja ZX-12R is a sports motorcycle manufactured by Kawasaki Motors. Before the introduction of ZX-14 (ZZR1400), ZX-12R which is the flagship sports bike and the Kawasaki Suzuki Hayabusa competitors. The ZX-12R is a fuel injection (4 x 46 mm throttle body) hypersport 1200 cc motorcycle, producing around 178 hp and 190 hp at the stop at 300 km / hour based on its ram air system.
Handling and braking in accordance with the power of the engine produces an obedient motorcycle at low speed and very easy to handle heavy traffic, but has strong acceleration and speed limited to 186 mph (300 km / h).
Pre-production models of the ZX-12R revealed a bike that was faster and more powerful than the Suzuki Hayabusa. Several important publications motorcycles were tested pre-production ZX-12R and found it to be more superior than the Hayabusa in the case of straight-line performance. In Japan, the pre-production tests showed a top speed near 200 mph. However, the ZX-12R released in 2000 proved to be quite disappointed, because the production version of the ZX-12R delayed for several weeks without notification.
Many industries in the reports that European governments have threatened to ban the ZX-12R entirely due to peculiar velocity and acceleration statistics. The threats were apparently serious, and Kawasaki bikes released by slightly de-tuned machine that failed to topple the throne Hayabusa (in terms of top speed and acceleration tests). Adjustments are not sufficient to meet the relevant parties with the ability ZX-12Rs performance. Starting with 2001 models, including speed limiters to reduce peak velocity ZX-12R to 300 km / h. This is caused by the fact that governments (especially in Europe) are concerned with the ongoing search among Japanese manufacturers that the higher maximum speed, which viewed as a powerful marketing tool in most markets around the world (although the unfettered presence in markets where many cars boasting a top speed close to, or exceeds 200 mph).

Producers were told they could voluntarily limit the speed of their bikes, or there will be laws that limit the speed. Japanese manufacturers agreed on a gentlemens agreement to limit the maximum speed to 299 km / h (186 mp / h). Kawasaki Ninja ZX-12R was discontinued in 2006.
Although not very popular in terms of sales as the Suzuki Hayabusa, ZX-12R enjoys a strong following among riders and fans. Many sports bike magazine praised the ZX-12R sportbike to overall performance. It is designed to be a sportbike all-around in addition to being extremely fast, unlike the Hayabusa is designed more for straight line speed.
Many magazines Kawasaki comparisons prove to be a bike faster and faster in the head to head comparison with the Hayabusa, but it should be noted that the bike was very close in terms of straight line performance that many factors could play into the bike faster on a particular day. However, most round magazine felt the ZX-12R is the bike "song better" than the Hayabusa, who is given logical design.

Suzuki V Strom 650 ABS Adventure Review

The latest version of Suzuki’s versatile V-Strom could be all the bike you’ll need - it really is that good.
We have fond memories of the Suzuki V-Strom 650 at Telegraph Motoring. We ran one as a long-term test bike in 2004 and it didn’t just gradually win our affection, as many bikes will; it proved good enough to be our bike of the year. This accolade wasn’t for spectacular performance, and it was despite the bike’s unbalanced looks. It won us over because it was so good at so many everyday things, and for such a good price. Yet time is cruel to man and motorcycle alike. When I rode the

The New Suzuki V-Strom 650; However, Suzuki had been busy refreshing the V-Strom. The main updates for this late-arriving 2012 model are to the 90-degree V-twin engine and the bodywork. There are new twin-plug cylinder heads, pistons, fuel injection, crankshaft and throttle bodies, along with revised clutch operation and other detail changes.

As with the old bike, the luggage rack sits flush with the passenger seat so loads can bridge the two easily, while the additional dash info such as economy and temperature can be scrolled through from the left bar switch – no need to let go to push a button on the dash itself. Annoyingly, you still need tools to adjust the headlight angle, which you’ll have to do often if your load varies, and there’s no tool supplied to undo six bolts to alter the screen height.

Riding: The ride quality is firmer, of course, but still comfortable, aided by the exceptionally accommodating seat. Your backside rests just over half an inch higher than on the old bike’s, otherwise the riding position is still spacious and natural. Suzuki supplies alternative seats which are 20mm lower or higher than standard. It’s the same on the back, where there’s plenty of room and potential long-distance comfort.
The Suzuki V-Strom 650 is more about distance than dashing, with a stronger touring bias than the Versys, and it’s very good at this. Economy impressed on the press launch at about 55mpg – Suzuki says the motor is 10 per cent more fuel efficient than before. With a 4.4-gallon tank, there should be a touring range of 240 miles, a serious mileage for any bike let alone a middleweight all-rounder.

For harder, more demanding riding, there’s a more controlled and tactile feel through the chassis, and an impressive new ABS system if you get over-ambitious with the brakes. The bike changes direction with enough vigour to be exciting, although a long wheelbase like the V-Strom’s will never allow really rapid flicks.
Pricing: But that’s not what this bike is about. It’s a well priced all-rounder that provides as much bike as a significant number of riders want or need. More glamorous machines such as the Ducati Diavel will win bike of the year, but the quiet-man V-Strom deserves a mention. Suzuki V-Strom 650 Price is given in below section.

Fuel tank/range: 4.4 gallons/ 240 miles
Verdict: Competitively priced all-rounder that upholds the virtues of the original version of the V-Strom and builds on them with improved range, sharper handling and better comfort – it also looks a lot better than the older bike
> RIVALS- Suzuki V-Strom 650 Competitors;
>Kawasaki Versys, £7,024
A fine bike that’s sportier than the Suzuki, although its engine is less engaging and requires you to use the gearbox more. It also vibrates more. Although the Suzuki is the better tourer, these are closely matched.
>Triumph Tiger 800 ABS, £7,749
The adventure bike style will appeal to many, as will its three-cylinder engine and British heritage, but it costs another £700 and its range is about 80 miles less than the V-Strom’s. Comfort is not as good, either.
>Honda XL700V Transalp, £6,775
Lacks the comfort and range of the V-Strom, while it’s not quite so good for hard riding. But the Transalp is still very capable, with legendary reliability and longevity. It’s also a better bet for limited off-roading.

The variable damping provides optimum rider feedback by enabling the utilization of lower damping forces throughout traditional operation, while not sacrificing the firm damping required for high-speed stability. The results a lightweight and nimble steering feel at low speed, yet as superior damping at higher speeds or throughout extreme acceleration/deceleration. The anodized damper unit incorporates Öhlins’ proprietary twin-tube style to assist guarantee stable damping performance and superior bribe absorption. its mounted horizontally at the front of the fuel tank and needs only a few extra elements and ads nearly no weight compared to last year’s steering damper.
